Most Current (4/27/2014) Home Area Profile Reports by County
Source: U.S. Census Bureau, OnTheMap Application and LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics
Inflow/Outflow Analysis Reports from the U.S. Census Bureau show the count and characteristics of work flows into, out of, and within the selected study area. The data is retrieved using the OnTheMap program created and maintained by the U.S. Census Bureau using LEHD Origin-Destination Employment Statistics. To learn more about the OnTheMap program, see this OnTheMap information page.
The WKU Center for Applied Economics has compiled three Inflow/Outflow Analysis Reports for the South Central Kentucky area.
- Population Counts and Densities Reports – Our Population Counts and Densities Reports use the OnTheMap program and 2011 Census Data to create area profile reports for each of the 10 South Central Kentucky counties. Our profile reports list jobs by worker age, earnings by NAICS industry sector, race, ethnicity, educational attainment, and sex. In addition we show population densities in jobs/square mile and jobs per census block.
- Inflows and Outflows Reports – Our Inflows and Outflows Reports use the OnTheMap program and 2011 Census Data to create a visual depiction of job flows into and out of the 10 South Central Kentucky counties. The Edmonson County report, for example, would show the number of Edmonson County residents who work within Edmonson County, the number of Edmonson County workers who commute outside of Edmonson County to work, and the number of workers from outside Edmonson County who commute to work within Edmonson County.
- Distance/Direction Reports – Our Distance/Direction Reports use the OnTheMap program and 2011 Census Data to visually illustrate the distance and direction of job flows of residents from within the 10 South Central Kentucky counties. For example, the Logan County report would illustrate the most common directional flow of workers is to the Northeast towards Warren County. Further investigation reveals that nearly 15% of Logan County residents work in Bowling Green, Ky.
