Inflation Rate in Hong Kong

Inflation rises in April but remains mild

Inflation came in at 2.0% in April, which was up from March’s 1.6%, on the back of faster clothing and food inflation. April’s reading was still muted by regional standards though, tempered by strong food supply from mainland China, low inflation on the mainland and weak housing pressures due to population outflows.

The trend was unchanged, with annual average inflation coming in at March’s 2.0% in April.

Lastly, consumer prices rose a seasonally adjusted 0.19% over the previous month in April, accelerating from the 0.10% increase recorded in March.
