Inflation in Dominican Republic

Inflation declines to lowest level since October 2020 in April

Inflation fell to 5.2% in April from March’s 5.9%. April’s figure marked the lowest inflation rate since October 2020. Looking at the details of the release, price pressures for transport eased. Prices for housing and utilities, as well as for food, also rose at more moderate paces.

Accordingly, the trend pointed down, with annual average inflation coming in at 7.8% in April (March: 8.2%). Meanwhile, core inflation fell to 5.8% in April, from March’s 6.2%.

Lastly, consumer prices rose 0.24% over the previous month in April, picking up from March’s 0.21% rise.
